Having to move from abroad to Switzerland can be a challenge and create a lot of changes for the whole family. We offer a place for your youngsters where they are accompanied during their education. We support your children in a familiar environment; at the same time we encourage them to achieve high academic as well as personal skills. As an option we have a bilingual class, which offers some courses in English, also leading to the Swiss Maturity certificate.
The language of instruction is in 7th and 8th grade English in about 50 percent of the subjects. From the ninth grade onwards the courses maths, natural sciences, geography and one supplementary subject are taught and tested in English.
There is no change of schools from grade 5 to the final grade. A competent and caring environment is guaranteed.
Our classes have fewer students than the average public school. This enables us to care for your teenagers on a personal and individual level. We have our in-house learning coach and social worker who are both available to accompany your children.
We pride ourselves in our community and friendships that last well into the time after graduation.
The Swiss maturity certificate gives students a free entry to all degree courses at Swiss universities, only for the studies of medicine there is a separate entry exam.
Internationally the Swiss Matura certificate is generally almost everywhere recognized if the language used in the studies of the respective country is at C1 to C2 level. For certain university courses, additional entry exams may apply.
When moving from abroad it is advisable that a child joins the Swiss system as early as possible. Many subjects are taught for as long as 8 years or longer, and they are compulsory for the final exams to get the Matura certificate.
We as a semi-private school strive to find individual possibilities for your child; we do also offer various additional courses to catch up in certain subjects. None the less we are obliged to follow the cantonal and nation regulations.
It is highly recommended that you contact us to arrange a personal meeting with the vice principals. Every case will be looked at individually, and possible options for an entry will be strived for.
The partner language used in our bilingual programme is English. In addition, in the Swiss school system English as a foreign language is taught from 5th grade.
In 7th and 8th grade around half of the subjects are taught in English. From the first class in high school the following subjects are taught in English: Mathematics, Geography, Biology, Physics and one more subject chosen by the students in the last two years. In high school the subjects taught in English are also tested in English. Students choosing the bilingual path have the experience of subjects being taught in English before possibly entering a university in an English speaking country. This is certainly an advantage.
